New Mexico Can Build Stronger TNR Laws for Community Cats
TNR laws are gaining support nationwide as states recognize Trap-Neuter-Return as a humane way to manage community cats. At least seven states now have TNR-specific laws, protections, or funding policies.
New Mexico already has strong local TNR work through Street Cat Hub and community partners, but statewide law needs clarity. Clear TNR laws would protect cats, support caregivers, reduce shelter intake, and make TNR the standard across New Mexico.
