Feral Cat TNR Services - Trap, Neuter, Return

Street Cat HUB provides spay/neuter for free-roaming community cats in the city of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County. This service is free when city or county funding is available. We provide spay/neuter to outlying counties for a fee or when funding is available. TNR (trap, neuter, return) allows feral cats to live out their natural lives where they already are while preventing them from reproducing and avoiding unnecessary euthanasia.

Spay/Neuter Services Offered

  • Self Trapping: We provide you with training and loaner traps (requires a refundable deposit). You trap the cats and bring them to us for spay/neuter then you pick them up after recovery and return them to their outdoor home. If you’re interested in self-trapping feral cats in your neighborhood, learn how it works here.

  • Assisted Trapping: Available for those physically unable to self-trap, for large and complicated colonies, and hard to catch cats. Our resources for assisted trapping are limited and wait times can be long. Usually only available inside Bernalillo County.

Please fill out the form on this page to request either of these services.

You can also call and leave us a message at: (505) 247-9357.

If you do have internet access, please fill out the form below. If you’re filling out the form on behalf of someone without internet access, please put “no internet access” in the email field, and we will call them.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Cats/kittens may not be owned; this service is for free-roaming outdoor cats only.

  • Cats/kittens must be a minimum of 2 pounds and healthy enough for spay/neuter.

  • Cats/kittens will be fixed and returned to you; we do not take surrenders of social cats/kittens, or relocate feral cats. It is your responsibility (as the trapper of the cats/kittens) to return the cats/kittens to the location where you trapped them.

  • All cats/kittens will be ear-tipped (ear-tipping explained).

Ill OR INJURED CAT

  • We currently provide spay/neuter only. If you have found a cat or kitten that is ill or injured and requires medical assistance, please click the button below:

  • If you have trapped a cat that is ill or injured, please notify staff during the intake process. The vet on staff during your scheduled spay/neuter will do a general health screening and we will provide treatment as needed.

KITTENS

  • We are no longer accepting requests for kitten surrenders; we provide spay/neuter with return only.

  • Do not trap kittens under 2 pounds (roughly 8-10 weeks) unless you are prepared to house them yourself or have already arranged their entry to a shelter or rescue.

  • We encourage you to socialize feral kittens if you want to reduce the number of stray cats in your neighborhood and improve the odds you’ll be able to find them a home or shelter/rescue placement. This is easiest before they’re 7 weeks old; if you wait until they’re older than that, they may be permanently feral. Here are a few helpful resources:

Please fill out the form above to request spay/neuter, and we will contact you when we have spay/neuter appointments available for you. We’re currently backlogged and have wait times up to several months for assisted trapping. If you’re able to trap cats yourself with our guidance, that is the fastest way to get community cats spayed and neutered.
