Meow of the Month: Beckett’s Fresh Start

Beckett, SCH’s Meow of the Month.

With his beautiful blue eyes, wonderfully cross-eyed expression, and gentle spirit, Beckett has a way of making everyone fall in love with him. But before this sweet lynx point boy began charming the team at SCH, he endured an injury no cat should have to face.

Beckett came to SCH from southwest Albuquerque after a trapper found him during a small trapping project near the shelter in that area. It was immediately clear that he needed urgent medical attention. One of his legs was severely fractured, with exposed bone, and had twisted in the opposite direction of a healthy leg.

Beckett arrived with a severe fracture that required urgent veterinary care.

Sadly, the damage was too extensive for the leg to be repaired. After carefully evaluating Beckett’s condition, the clinic staff and veterinarians determined that amputation was the best way to relieve his suffering and give him the chance to live a happy, comfortable life.

Safe, comfortable, and surrounded by care, Beckett began his recovery.

Beckett handled his journey with remarkable sweetness. Even while receiving care, he won over everyone at SCH with his affectionate personality—especially his love of belly rubs! Now that his injured leg has been removed, Beckett is pain-free and no longer struggling with a broken limb. Like so many three-legged cats, he can look forward to a full and joyful life.

The good news does not end there: Beckett has been accepted into a rescue, where he will continue his journey toward finding the loving forever home he deserves.

Beckett’s irresistible expression and affectionate personality stole every heart at SCH.

Beckett’s story is a beautiful reminder of what compassionate trappers, skilled veterinary professionals, rescue partners, and a caring community can accomplish together. Because someone noticed him, brought him to safety, and made sure he received the care he needed, Beckett now has a bright future ahead.

Congratulations to our Meow of the Month, Beckett—the sweet, cross-eyed boy who faced a painful beginning and stole every heart at SCH along the way.
